GE Healthcare is developing or seeking products for the following areas of cardiology:

• Imaging of cardiac perfusion and function. Specific targets of interest include:
  • Next-generation nuclear medicine myocardial perfusion agent
  • Non-nuclear contrast agent with for quantification of perfusion, so imaging can be dissociated from the stress procedure.
• Imaging of vulnerable plaque/atherosclerotic plaque burden
• Imaging of metabolic processes and receptor density/function for early detection and monitoring of heart disease

Other cardiac imaging opportunities will be evaluated on an ad-hoc basis.

The main strategic focus of GE Healthcare is in diagnostic imaging products, but other opportunities may be considered within the areas of:

• in-vitro diagnostics
• therapeutic products that have synergy with diagnostic products
• devices where such opportunities are synergistic with diagnostic imaging products.
